Windows rebooting after resetting overclock

I have got a ocuk Argon i3 550 pre-overclocked bundle which is overclocked from 3.20 to 4.20 which runs very well.

I have upgraded the memory from 4gb to 8gb which is causing me a lot of problems so I have tried resetting the bios to both load fail-safe defaults and load optimized defaults ,and win 8.1 loads but within about 10 seconds reboots.

The only way I can stop it from rebooting is to go back into the bios and reload the ocuk overclock from the CMOS then it is fine.

I am trying to reset it back to default settings to try and test out these memory problems I have got but I cannot seem to work it out.

Any ideas why it would reboot using default settings?

Did you install windows 8 with the SATA ports set to ahci mode? If so makesure they are set to that again, not sure if it boots ok in IDE mode

Try both IDE and ahci

One more problem I have now is that when I enable AHCI mode win 8 keeps rebooting but when I change it back to IDE it starts up okay.I enabled AHCI when I installed win 8.

Before today AHCI was working no problem.

Fixed the issue with AHCI not working, just had to boot win 8 into safe mode for windows to reinstall the driver.

Now I just need to sort the memory out :)

I have been thinking about updating the bios but with this problem I have where it reboots when I set the bios to default I am afraid I will be left with a pc that I cannot use.

At least at the moment I can still use it,so I may just write off the memory and just leave it for now.

Many thanks for your help.
