Windows reinstall problem

I decided last night to do a fresh install as had a lot of unwanted programs that wouldn't uninstall the easy way. Sorted all my files out on to my external hard drive.

The computer was bought was Windows 7 pre installed. I made my own recovery disk as they tell you to do when you buy the computer it worked for me before when I managed to move my bootmgr.

Right, now on to the problem.

I put the first disk in, reset the computer tapping ESC, and boot from the CD. Tell the installer to do it's thing. Formatted the hard drive. Then click install. It copies files fine, that comes up with a tick next to it. Then it goes on to next bit (expanding windows?) I think, then that get's to about 61 percent then the screen goes blank and the computer sounds like it is restarted. Nothing happens on the screen no matter how long you live it. Tried with Windows Vista and it does the same thing. To make the screen come back on I have to restart the install.

Please help me, my computer is my only form is hobby. I write little stories. And do graphics design.

Oh the computer is a Advent Centurion.

what did you use to make the backup image? and how many dvd's does it span?

did you verify the burn etc when made and burn it on a slow burn and not at full speed etc?
