Right, so I just reinstalled Windows on my SSD, while removing my HDD from the system. Now, my HDD contained files such as my steam games and program itself, as well as numerous other programs.

My question is, is it possible to just get these programs running easily, or will I be forced to reinstall them? None seem to want to open :(

Help would be great!

Theoretically, if you put the hdd in as a secondary drive and transfer the full game folders over to your ssd (watch space) You should be able to run them like you would normally. I'm not sure how steam stores its games but i can't imagine any vital files being outside of the main game folder.

Bar advertising companies in India with dodgy links, what on earth are you talking about?
There is no NEED to reinstall windows 7 every 2 years, it does a nice job of keeping itself reasonably trim.

New hard drive, yes, then it is best to reformat, and chose what you want to go where.

To the OP, do your full install on just the NEW DRIVE, with no other drives connected, so it makes its own MBR, and doesn't put the MBR on the wrong drive, in case you wish to remove the secondary drives later. Then add the second drive after the install is complete.

@r.pointing - just trying to spam the forum with the links in the sig.

I just wish that it was possible to split my Steam folder across two drives. I have Civ V installed from Steam on my SSD but if I wanted, for example, Napoleon Total War installed, bought from Steam, then it would take up all of my available room on the SSD. I would want to keep Civ V on the SSD and games that I play less on my mechanical HD but it doesn't seem possible with Steam.
