I just finished installing windows 7. I didn't have gigabytes disk with the drivers on so went on another pc to get some drivers for the likes of internet and graphics.

While I was out of the room my son decided to change the screen resolution. This resulted in the screen going blue screen.

I can still access uefi/bios but when windows finishes loading up, it goes back to blue screen.

I hadn't installed any drivers whatsoever so am not surprised. What I need to know is if there is a quick way to resolve this or do I really need to reformat the hard drive and go through the whole o/s installation again?

Load up the pc in safe mode, install the drivers then reboot.

You may be able to set the res in safe mode, I can't remember.

To get safe mode, keep tapping F8 after the boys screen

no, was a little bit concerned with them all being new parts and not being 100% sure which way the power switch went in on the f panel. The chassis cable had the positive and negative in one connector but it didn't say which side was positive and which was negative. So I put it in with the arrow pointing upwards and not the side with the writing on.

But that was just me worrying because it was the only gamble I took with the build.

It was caused solely because I hadn't put in one single driver. I bought the mobo open box so it didn't come with a dvd.
I hadn't even connected it to the net and cant until the wireless card comes.

So the screen resolution was set to the bare minimum needed to install updates etc. something times 640 I believe.

My impatient son, figured that as he could see windows and his led fans were all singing or dancing (going to have to do something about them so they aren't always running at 100%), that he would put the screen res on a setting he preferred that would reduce the size of the words and graphics etc, more in line with his tv res.

I think the blue screen was because windows on first install is a blue background. Changing the res just made nothing visible apart from the blue background of windows I guess.

Its my own fault for putting it in his room until it was completely finished. I just needed the space. So I told him that he has bust it. I will let him worry about it at school today so that in future he might not touch when I tell him not to.
