Windows Restarting

Earlier today i switched my pc on to do something and it was working fine, and then i switched it off. About half an hour later i switched it on again, but now there (and still) is a problem. The pc boots up normally and starts to load windows, but about 2 seconds after it starts to display the desktop (after the 'welcome' screen), it just restarts the computer and this continues in a cycle. I loaded up Safe mode, works perfectly without any problems, which lead me to beleive that it must be a windows service or startup app causing the problem. The only app i have running is NOD32. When i tried to load up just the file scanner through safe mode, it comes up with the 'encountered and error' problem so i cant scan for any viruses, which could be a very small posibility causing the problem.

Ive ran chkdsk from the windows cd, but it didnt find any errors.

Can anyone help, please?

Do you get a shutdown timer or does it just restart with no warning?

If its the first one, type "shutdown -a" in the run dialog and it will stop it - if that's happening then it's because you have a virus and you havent patched XP.
