Hi Guys,

Just a quick question, would I run into any issues with adding Windows 7 machines to an SBS 2003 Domain?

The customer's budget doesn't allow them a new server for a further six months and they urgently require more workstations for additional staff.

Many thanks in advance!

James

Yes, Win7 will run on 2003 domain however you will have issues with changing GPO settings that are updated/new to Win7.

Thank you!

There isn't much in the way of GPO setup in this domain anyway, it's only got around 5 computers in it anyway.

Thanks again.

From memory, need to SP SBS 2003 for it to support Windows 7, think it was SP 2? Don't quote me on that, while since worked on SBS.

Don't forget CALs and the upper limit if you are adding computers to an existing SBS setup, they may have already exceeded them.

Had no issues with Windows 7 and SBS 2003. When adding the machines to the domain, do it manually via the Computer Name settings. Using the wizard causes some stuff that doesn't even work on Windows 7 to be installed, and users get nagged to death if they haven't Admin rights to the machine.
