Hi,
My home SBS 2011 server has been running happily and event though it has Exchange on it, my client machines uise Outlook but connect to remote mail servers and not the Exchange server.
After downloading the 'best practices' Microsoft utility it highlighted that I should install Exchange SP1 which I then did. I was a little concerned when it started talking about backing up my .pst files held in my profile ont he server (my client machines are Win 7 Pro on a single domain with the SBS server as DC).
After the update I got everything upa nd running but when I started outlook on one of my clients it reported the .pst files were corrupted. On doing an Outlook repair they were openable but now empty. I restored from a backup prior to the SP1 update but I am still getting the same issue. I have managed to 'jerry rig' it so I can get email but it looks like there is a major problem.
I also added a user (service) account using both the SBS management gui and also tried via the server administrator console and received an error part way through the new account being added which, in typical Microsoft style, didn't really give any details on what went wrong or even what part of the process errored. The account was created on the domain though so I strongly suspect it is to do with creating an Exchange mailbox.
I can create new PST files from scratch but I do not want to loose all my old emails and it seems there is a bigger underlying issue going on.
Any suggestions ?.
Thanks
RB
