had something similar to this before, except theis time it doesnt come up in the quick launch tray, just pops up every now and then with a "windows security alert" window, obviously anything i click the takes it to a site to pay to remove it, can anyone help please

vundofix didnt find anything, zonealarms found 4 infections, malwarebytes found 19 infections, combofix just gave me a giberish log page, the problem is still here, **last time anti-malwarebytes sorted it, but no joy this time

thanx in advance

1 other thig, ever since this has started, my pc keep restarting on its own, and when it comes back on says windows has recovered froma serious error, report or dont reprt-have sent report and microsoft says its an antivirus problem?

Try Superantispyware. Make sure you update the definitions for Malwarebytes and Superantispyware too.

Oh, and the fact you've had this twice means you're doing something wrong. Try using Firefox with adblock/noscript, or download and deploy Admuncher or SuperAdBlocker.

ditch avg, it's crap

disable system restore
CCleaner slim
Combofix
Nod32 Antivirus Trial
Spybot S&D
Malwarebytes

do all the above

then run
Hijackthis
and paste the log in here

then when installing firefox..

install firefox http://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-3.0.4&os=win&lang=en-GB
install adblock plus (click this link in firefox) https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865
once you've restarted to install adblock plus, click here abp://subscribe/?location=http://ea...ement+easylist.txt&title=EasyElement+EasyList

that'll stop any ads showing up, and you'll now have nice clean browsing

never use IE again.

ok, gonna do all of the above, thanx bledd

quick question -, once i've done it all -do i turn on system restore again???

any suggestions for an antivirus firewall atc to use permamnently?
i have kaspersky, and a Yoggie pro stick, this is ok yeah?

nod32 gets so far then says "nod32 ended installation prematurely because of an error, and was not installed, please try again later!?

I'd advise against installing security apps willy nilly as you'll bog your system down and cause conflicts galore. If you've got Kaspersky you should be OK, and if you don't have the version with the firewall then get Comodo firewall as well.

As for system restore: I wouldn't bother. It often causes more issues than it resolves. Just backup any important stuff on a regular basis.

right, i've turned off system restore for good, any suggestions for best way of backing up every now and then?

managed to run all of the above programs except nod 32, it aint having none of it! keeps saying error installing-not even saying what the error is, think i'll just stick with kaspersky and yoggie pro for now then, and i'll just perform the above again every now and then
i run hijackthis and have posted below instead of clicking the "fix items" button, if anyone could sdvise on it then much appreciated
thanks
