well i run a scan of microsofts security essentials, it found a severe risk and tells me to it needs removing or what ever the description is, so i think fine i'll sort it in a bit as i was busy doing something, so i close the security centre, blow me, a few minutes later i get a popup saying i need to restart the pc to complete the cleanup, now im thinking what cleanup i never told it to do it yet, and low and behold i look through the security centre and its gone ahead and removed it and my only option is to remove it:eek:

in the options you can choose the default action.

it's probably set to 'do action based on defenition' you can set it to something like 'do nothing'

it just seemed strange that i knew about it and was going to remove when i was ready, to all of a sudden see it had took control and done it lol, its a good piece of software just thought it very strange to do that on its own, the settings are set to 'recommended action'

I suppose it could cause you a headache if it was a false positive. Is there an easy way to restore the file? I haven't had a single pop up from MSE since I installed it - no news is good news!

I have a problem with this today - It stops me loading a Cineform HD encoder. If the realtime scan is enabled the program can't open!

Even told it to ignore the program file directory but still blocks it!
