windows server 2003 - need help

so doing homework and i need to replace the server operating system which is currently 2000, to another version, he likes 2003 apparently.

now i have been writing about all the benefits of it but i'm stuck as i don't understand the licensing for a server operating system so wonderginf if someone could explain it to me.

this will be used on 1 fileserver, though plans to upgrade to have 2 file servers, which connects 150 users.

does this mean then i need 150 versions of the server operating system? or just 1/2 for the fileservers?

as i have said i'm very lost so appreciate the help

holy smokes the prices are extremely high, £2500 for server plus 25 CALs! is there anywhere i can find cheaper to just buy a whole load of CALs? that way leaving me to decide which version of 2003 i should get
