Hi all,

This has been getting on my wick for a good couple of days now so I am resorting to you fine people of the internets for any ideas.

I have an old system that my boss wants to make a backup server running Windows Server Standard 2003 R2.

I have bought a new drive as the old one borked and its SATA only. The motherboard has Sata connectors and all is fine....or so you would think.

It seems that the win install gets to the point where it says "Press enter to setup" and then it gives me the BS about it can't see my drives and I have nothing to install windows onto.

Yet in the POST screen I can clearly see the MOBO is detecting the drive. The system itself except the HDD is very old and I don't have a clue where the driver disks etc are as its before my time working here.

The motherboard , for those that are interested, is a Foxconn 649M02-6ELRS. Now I have checked the manufacturers site and it seems that they don't exactly have a mobo to this model, but ones slightly similar (649M-ER, etc). So it appears I can't get the SATA disk drivers from anywhere.

The floppy drive is borked but I'll put in a new one if I have too (IF i can find any drivers)

I have also tried adding a PCI Sata RAID controller card to see if it would pickup through that, but no joy.

It seems the simple choice would be to send back the SATA drive and just get an older IDE one.

So, has anyone got any ideas or things I could try to get this damn computer to install windows onto the damn drive!?

Basically, as you've worked out you need to find the SATA drivers to give Windows Install (hit F6 when it's loading) on a floppy. To do that, you'll need to find what SATA chipset that board uses. Google wasn't a lot of help, so.... pass!

Will take a look at that software later Bledd, got AD issues this morning which require my attention :(

Thanks for the advice though guys!
