Im about to build up a new server for work, but i cant work out what eddition of 2008 to put on it.

Being a MAPs subscriber ive got lots of version knocking around, we have;

2008 Standard + exchange 2007, SQL server 2008
2008 SBS Standard
Essential Bussiness server 2008 (messaging server install)
Essential Bussiness server 2008 (management server install)
Essential Bussiness server 2008 (Security server install)

so which edition is the best to use, whats the +'s and -'s of the different edditions.

Surely "what version" would depend on what you want it for, and what licenses you have for each available. Just because you have the media and a license doesn't mean you have any free licenses ;)

good point about the lics, im looking now to see what we have,

[edit]
we have 10 server Lic for SBS and standard, but only 5 for the Essential Bussiness version so thats made the decission for me.

looks like im putting on 2008 standard with exchange and sql seperatly. as i beleave the SBS version we have is only x86
