Hi Guys,

I need some pointers it seems....... I have a new home server that I have an issue with RDS (running in an VM) pointing externally of my LAN, on the server I have setup active directory a verisign SSL cert which is installed and configured in the RDS gateway. In case you ask I have also setup the domain, users, computers etc etc now I can get it working on my LAN but not externally do you have any ideas?

I have forwarded the ports of the router as well (Virgin Media Super HUB, its not staying that way long as I think that this server will require a nice NAT router :)) I think I may have setup something wrong with the broker .... but I have no idea after messing about with it for the last 2 hours and I now give up.

The Virgin Media Super HUB I think is the problem if I want to connect to it on say 89.XXX.XXX.XX and want to point it to 192.XXX.XX.XXX then on to the DNS for the VM it doesn't seems to be having any of it.

my guess is your router doesn't support NAT loopback. you need this if you want to test incoming connections to your external domain/IP from inside your network.

All you should need to do it allow 443 to be forwarded to the RDS gateway and then connect to the server you need with the gateway defined on your RDP client

also do you have external DNS pointing to your IP to match your SSL certificate name?

Virgin routers are picky (things like this and VPN are hassle).

You can test the theory with another VM on a different VLAN or subnet by running PFSense as a router
