Windows server 2019 hdd spindown?

Upgraded from server 2012 to 2019 and noticed hdds no longer spindown even if they are set to spin down in power settings to 30mins like before the os upgrade.

Anyone else have this issue and know a way to fix it?

Well found out server 2019 dropped support for dtive spindown so rolled back to old os. Think 2016 server may support it

You are using a server OS. Anyone using a server properly shouldn't have drive spin down. Why are you using a server OS?

Using server os for my nas. Too many drives in it so can't have them powered up for no reason. Drive spindown worked fine on server 2003 and server 2008. Server 2012 also supported it so looks like server 2019 being based on windows 10 has all the bugs of windows 10 too.
Back to using server 2008 now. Will try 2016 and see how it is.
Id stick with 2008 but it dont support native 4k sector drives.

Server 2016 is based on W10 too

You would be best of using a linux os with web gui. Something like freenas maybe.

Been running windows server on the nas for well over 15 years. It does other stuff too like video encoding and torrents etc. Linux just doesnt do what i want without faffing around

just an update to this, server 2016 been working perfectly fine for the last few years with hdd spindown fully functional.
