Hi all

After my whole system failed to boot, I tried to format my seagate 160GB SATA drive. The drive has 2 partitons on it, 1 used for system files and the other for gaming and etc.

I tried to boot up from the xp installation disc and received this error:

file \1386\ntkrnlmp.exe could not be loaded
the error code is 4

setup cannot continue. press any key to exit

 never came up with this error before so any help would be appreciated.

PS: the system was unable to boot. 1 of my harddisks were detected on my other computer and the other were not even recongized - causing my other pc to slow down and eventually crash.

both harddisks are seagate 160GB SATA drive.

the pc would go into boot choice screen (where you pick your boot option) and kept on restarting and freeze at the bios loading screen.

Thanks for your reply bledd

I did overclock my cpu - I went onto holiday and this pc failed during the period I'm away

I came back and my bios has changed (extra options appeared in the selection screen etc.. I'm not sure if it's my lousy memory or it really has happened  )

I will try to reset bios and see what happens. :D
