hi

im having trouble with shutting down windows xp ,everytime i go to shutdown under start it hangs and i have to wait about 2-3 minutes until the shutdown/standby box comes up ?

it never actually jams just hangs at that certain stage when i go into start and shutdown .

im pretty sure im up to date with windows but i noticed my last security update from windows was august 08 and i have all my security options on in the control panel???

can anyone help me with this anoying problem

thankyou

i might have solved it as i just updated to windows service pack 3 and installed about 25 other security updates , i found out that my firewall has been stoping my windows automatic updates , now everything is up to date my firewall seems ok with the auto updates .

hopefully this would have sold the shutdown issue

cheers
