for the last 2 weeks - for no reason at all - I cant shut my PC down without it restarting on its own.

I have to power off the PC to turn it off.

When I do a shut down an error message come on the screen about a writing to memory problem and when I click the box - it just reboots.

What can I do to sort it.

BTW - winlogon.exe is sometimes flagged up as a problem too.

Until 2 weeks ago - life was sweet with no probs at all

have removed a few old progs - added a new CD/DVD ROM and it seems to be behaving itself again - no more shutdown probs!!!

Dont understand - but if it happens again I will try memtest 686 - what should I be looking for from this test?
