Hey all

Not sure which topic this goes under, but this seems the most appropriate. If it needs to be moved, please do so. Anyways, so my computer was working like a gem until one day, it just wouldn't turn on. Turns out the mobo was dead. Yeah, it just died. Bizarre. So anyways, I'm studying for uni exams so didn't have time to fix it myself so sent it to some chap down the road who put in a new one. I didn't want to loose any of my files, so I simply did a Windows 'Repair' Install which got XP up and running. However, it's dreadfully slow. Windows takes about 4 minutes to load, and programmes like Winrar are about 10 times as slow as they were before. Is this solely down to me only doing a repair install? Do I have to format and reinstall Windows entirely?

I've got a pretty good system - here are the specs:
P4 3.2Ghz Prescott
1GB Corsair XMS 4000
Radeon x800 pro
Asrock mobo (hmm... bit iffy about this but it's the one the guy put in)

Anyways, was wondering if anyone could shed some light on all this. Even copying files from one hard drive to another is particularly slow - it took 40 mins to copy 3 gigs from C:\ to D:\!!!

Thanks in advance.
