Sorry if there is all ready a thread for this
So I have asus m5a99x evo r2 and a samsung 840 pro ssd with fast boot enabled in bios but windows seems to boot up slow once im in windows I usally open things such as speed fan hw monitor ect but when I click short cut to open then nkthing happens for a minute or more any ideas guys in on Windows 7 64 ultimate

When you installed windows on the SSD, did you change the HDD Controller to ACHI over IDE in the BIOS? This would cause it to be slow.

Yeah been in bios its defo set to ACHI thats why I find it odd had agility 3 120GB and that didnt hand I readthat copying windows coukd be cause but I did fresh instalk on samsung so im scratching my head a tad just hangs when I try to ooen program's but after a minute or two its fine then and quick as you like

Go into Control Panel, click on Performance Information and Tools, click Advanced Tools. At the top of the window, check to see if you have any performance issues, there is usually a yellow triangle if you do. You may have to many programs set to start up when booting windows.

I had a very similar problem recently with a fresh win 7 ultimate install, it was basically hanging once I reached the desktop. Uninstalling Intel RST fixed it for me.

hey guys just got in from work so double checked bios says in the advanced tab under sata config sata ports 1-4 which my ssd is on are set to AHCI also been into performance tab and no warning symbols or errors :( was hoping there would be lol
now been playing with ram timings and it seems quicker a bit i got the xmp advised settings but dont know which fields to enter them all in as xmp says:-

tcl 9
trcd 9
trp 9
tras 24
these i know where to enter and have they were way higher on auto really loose timings and system seems to boot a tad quicker now these others where do i add them as i don't see them well i do see loads of numbers but the xmp abbreviations i cant match to ones in bios

trc 38
twr 12
trrd 5
trfc 160
twtr 8
trtp 6
tfaw 24
tcwc 9
comand rate 3

cant match these to ones in bios as i set timings system boot up quicker so hoping setting the rest will help as the current numbers are all over place higher than any of these
sorry for long post guys i could be wrong here but defo seems half the boot time i posted at first

Have you made sure you have chipset / storage driver installed?

I would go to the asus site and download the chipset driver as well as the ahci driver and maybe the Asmedia driver.
