Whenever i analyze/encode a dvd with dvd shrink my windows get sluggish. That is, whenever my dvd rom is doing its job one of my cores gets 100% work load and while the second one is free windows are just not to be work with as they are too slow. What happened with my dvd drive that when it is engaged it will make windows so slow? My ram is free.I didn't have this problem before.

This is weird:

windows task manager: system idle process: 90+%????

It is normal for your System Idle Process to read 90%+

Your CPU cannot stop executing instructions - it always has to have something to do. The System Idle Process is a very small process which your CPU runs when it is idle

As for the DVD problem - it is possible that your drives are running in PIO mode not DMA mode which is a lot slower and far more processor intensive.

To enable DMA mode:

When did it start?

If it's just during encoding then that's not unusual as that's a very CPU intensive task. If it's whenever you access the DVD then that's not quite right!

Have you recently installed anything at all? I'd try the usual anti-virus and anti-spyware scans too
