Windows software that works with .IMG files?

what kind of file is it?

.img files are usually images to be burnt on to CDs/DVDs etc (I think)

do you mean to mount them? or burn them..

to mount them (use them as a virtual drive), use Virtual CloneDrive

to burn them use ImgBurn

both are freeware

don't use Daemon tools, it's cack

Sorry for not being more clear in the original post, being able to mount them like you can in OSX would be nice, but I also need to be able to write an update files within the IMG file... Failing that, a utility that can extract/pack IMG files in a similar way to a ZIP file would be good...

Right now I'm doing it a slightly long winded way using VirtualBox and a Xubuntu VM, but it would be nice to be able to modify the contents of an IMG file without haveing to fire up virtualbox all the time. :)

Imgburn is nice tho, if there a way I can make that spit out IMG files?

something like PowerISO will let you edit it directly, not free though

Imgburn can create ISO files, the same thing as an IMG basically

Hmm, it turns out not all IMG files are created equal.

Tried a few programs on a VM, powerISO, ultraISO, and none of them would open my IMG at all.

Turns out because the IMG files were created under OSX they're different, despite sharing the same extension. Eventually I found transmac was the only thing that could understand these files and it does what I want.

Thanks for the suggestions anyway. :)

strange, I assumed it would be a universal format...

can you mount it with virtualclonedrive, copy to a folder, then use ImgBurn to create a new ISO from the data?

a bit fiddly, but less hassle than a VM imo..
