Hi All

Does anyone know if Windows Storage Server 2012 R2 functions just like a normal server (ie: you can install software on it and use it like any other server) and it just has the added benefit of storage related technologies built into it?

We are buying a Broadberry device and the boss wants to go with Storage Server as long as we can run other software and services on it.

Thanks.

I seem to have found this Technet article which says the opposite:

In terms of application specific support such as ArcServe it is listed in their comptability matrix:

I only found these links after asking on here, typical really.

I think the answer then is probably 'it depends'. I think you'll be at the mercy of your storage vendor as to whether they want to support their products after you've installed other stuff on them.
