Guys,
Anyone give me some tips about why my dual boot system keeps crashing under windows XP SP2 but is fine under Linux Ubuntu "edgy"???? The Windows system is stripped bare, with just XP, nortons antivirus? System completely crashes, no BSOD and after restart says "has recovered from a serious driver error". No clues as to what? B**tard windows!!!!!

Any tips as to what to try? Must use the driver for my existing 6600GT or else system is unusable under Windows. Could Dr Watson help?

Any tips or guidance appreciated.

Steve

look in event viewer

-start, run, "eventvwr"

also, press windowskey + pause/break, advanced, startup + recovery, untick 'automatically restart' now you'll get a bluescreen, write down what it says

could be bad memory

Cheers bled. That gives me something to start working on. As I said, Ubuntu is fine - solid as a rock and can run for days. Windows will crash within half an hour. If it was memory then why is Linux OK? Wierd one mate. At least with the BSOD I can paste the output into google and research the problem. I'm gonna remove antivirus to see if that's the cause. Other than that it's pure windows. I may investigate the Nvidia drivers - they are on 78.01.

Thanks for you input.
