windows/system32/config/system – Missing or Corrupt Message.

Hey guys,

A mate of mines got his laptop here with the following message on startup:

windows/system32/config/system – Missing or Corrupt Message.

No idea why?

Tryed Last Known Good Config and Safe Mode and both return the same message

Is there a quick fix without reinstalling

Sounds like the registry (specifically the system hive) has got corrupted. Not fun .

Try using the manual steps here:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307545

I had to do it on a machine a week or so back and it worked fine.
