for the past week i have been recieving phone call from this so called 'Windows technical department' saying that they have got information from scans of my computer that it has dangerous issues. which is all complete bulls*** i know. But i've had around 10 phone calls from them now, and to top it off the second to last call i had where i just basicly said stop calling because i know theres nothing wrong with my computer he told me to F Off. They also just called me again today and i thought i'd just say ive have not got any windows machines in my house there all macs and he put the phone down on me.

Anyone been getting these phone calls? i can't get them to stop calling and if they want to be that rude down the phone they shouldn't be calling at all. really starting to annoy me now. Can't see how what they state can be legal either even if it is BullS***, some poor saps gonna fall for it

It's a scam a quite well known one. No idea how to get them to stop though. Phone BT maybe see what they can do, if anything.

Others on here have posted about it as well, so maybe one of them know how to block it.

Why block it when you can have hours of fun with it...

"Yes, I'm at my PC" (whilst sat watching TV having a beer).... "Yes, I've typed that"......"No, I've definitely typed that"......."Well can you send someone out to help me?"......

Great fun!! :D

Do they withhold their number? If not... report it.

edit: also what accent did they have? I assumed Indian/Pakistani, but I can't imagine being told to **** off by one of 'them'.

I was getting 4 of these a week until 2 weeks ago - it was driving me crazy!

I got them to stop though - it was fairly easy in the end. I just got my telephone company to block 'number withheld' calls which these calls ostly are.

I have not had even one call since then.

I recieved a phone from them last week at 11:30pm, told them to "£$% off, calling me at that time of night.

same here! i forgot to mention that

and lol yeah i should do a pre recording of yes and no answers and just stick it on when they ring

I want one of these calls :(

Would be great fun winding them up.

You want one of these:

.....This number 0234 3212333?

An 'indian' sounding person phoned me saying he was from a PC company and wanted to know my Windows 7 installation key . So I told him where to go .... then he started hurling abuse down the phone. Saying he knew where I lived , he was going to slit my throat. It went on for about 5 minutes. If I hung up , he was still on the line 20 seconds later , couldn't get rid of him.

I get quite a few calls, which I suspect is this sort of thing. But it takes them about 4 or 5 seconds to say anything, which is just enough time for me to hang up the phone. If the other person doesn't respond immediately to me picking up the phone, I'm not interested in finding out who they are. Anyone important almost certainly has my mobile too.

There's very little you can do, as most of these sort of calls originate from abroad.

As I said - just bar withheld numbers. it's easy.

I know this won't necessarily help, but are you a member of both the TPS and MPS?

I get few nuisance calls these days. More importantly, if you subscribe then your details are not shown on the edited voters roll, which is where all these scumbag organisations get their information from.

Funnily enough I had another one one an hour or so ago, and the guy got quite annoyed with me when I suggested we skip the tech support bit and go straight to the bit where I give him my credit card details.

I'm getting these regularly now so I think I might have to try and be nicer to them. I think they just call me now when they're bored.

Being registered with the TPS makes no difference to these people. I'm sure that only covers kosher UK operations.

This must be the most posted type of thread, ever.

Which I think gives us an idea of just how bad things have got. We're all capable of dealing with this stuff, but I hate to think how many innocent people are getting caught out. It does no harm to be reminded repeatedly that we should all be talking to our non-techy relations about this scam.
