I am going to be formatting my Windows 8 in 20 minutes first time in awhile. as I use to format quite a lot in XP days computers and had a plan/setup for it. I wanna backup plan too maybe even backing up USERDATA to my HDD on a router so it's central - is the Windows one good enough for backing up? Or another computer/friends, I can format easy (as long as it's driverless first) I am sick of the back and forth, I was meant to at Christmas and had no DVD drive till yesterday.
My three options:
Make it quick and easy: Install 8.1, apply fixes and then software but keep all in a folder on another disc for ease.
Have a auto install that does the lot, pref a dual dvd (windows 8.1, then all fixes and possible software)
Do normal but, use a back up program/ghost and image your whole O/S drive
Ideally free or trial ware. I don't mind it being a bit annoying but if I wanna do another machine or a few....
I have Windows 8.1 Pro. So I install O/S then can have it mass updated, I just don't wanna click all the time, can I say just say do everything in once? I know of creating automated install discs which is ideal but it varies on 2k/xp days. I would like MS Office 2013 too and some MS software like Windows Defender, maybe some things like Direct and dotnet framework. Do I need .exes or .msi?
Then I want my NOD32 installed and a few programs mainly drivers but nothing apart from must have software, no games or configs. One program is called ProtableApps that I use for near all my software apart from some so that helps a lot. Also Ninite is good for mass updating software and installing.
Would a DVD be ok or my SDD, maybe get USB to work out this time! would another partition do? like 10GB O/S + 246GB O/S
Anyway thanks and sorry about no x's, the button is out....
