Hello,

Bit of a long shot here.

A freind of mine setup her laptop a little while ago. She made a new account at the start like e-mail etc

Now she is trying to update it, but windows is asking her to sign in, but she has forgot the password. She can't get into the e-mail account as she never used it. Is there a way around this ?

Its windows 10 btw. Can she somehow delete the e-mail from the account or something like that ?

When you install windows 10 there are basicaly 2 paths to take.
1/. Be connected to the internet. This will ask you for an email address for a MS account, you log into that acount once and then setup a PIN you use to log into the PC.
2/. not be connected. This will allow you to set up a local machine account.

Most people end up doing 1. Like your friend.

As long as she can remember the email address she should be able to go to outlook.com and follow the standard procedures for recovering an email account.
This is assuming she setup the recovery options and is able to remember the answers to secret questions etc.

When you link your email adress to the win10 account it generally asks you to setup a pin. This is what you use to log into windows.
It is odd that windows is suddenly asking for an email sign in though, mine has never done this since day 0.

The recovery options are not working as she has never used the e-mail address n its asking things like when was the last e-mail received etc
