this has been a minor annoyance for some time now, but today this has reached a head.
left the pc on overnight running finite element analysis, i find this morning a fresh login page followed by the good old balloon "windows updates installed successfully"
it's no surprise that the finite element analysis, that is only slightly critical to my uni work was killed in this process. this has happened before, a couple of times even while i'm on the machine.
is there any way to turn off just the auto-restart feature? i'm fine with it auto updating [better than getting a million "your computer needs updates" messages per day] but i am no longer going to accept my machine randomly restarting because of this [it will restart when i tell it to], i will in future need to run stuff that'll take weeks not hours to complete and i can't have it ruined by a last minute restart.
