Windows update error 643

hello I been trying to install this update for couple days now (security update for Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable KB2538243 And it always fails anyone know how I can get this installed?
Am running windows 7 64bit.

Try installing it manually and see if gives you a reason for the failure.

Have you tried removing Virtual C++ 2008 and then installing the above?

I had a look in control panel/programs and then view installed updates the only one showing is 2010 I have no 2008 there. but windows update keeps showing I need to install it.
