Windows 8 Update Failure - KB2770917

Windows 8

All installed but KB2770917 failed. It just won't install on x64.

Anyone else had this today?

Update:

Tried the individual elements of this and they also fail as they appear to be for my system.

See my edited post. That lot don't work either. Looks like an MS screw up.

I did try that one.

Windows8-RT-KB2770917-x64.msu still failed and the others installed but one of them made IE10 crash so I've given up for the time being. Not had something like this since Vista.

as you they all installed but the KB2770917-x64
no issue with ie10 here though

KB2771744-x64 is ok.

I think it's either KB2771821-x64 or KB2777166-x64.msu but I was in a hurry and didn't check to see if the problem was still there with those two. I won't have time to look at this further until tomorrow.

tried this and at first it didn't work, as disabling all services meant that when I ran update it only showed 1 update that was just just 24kb.
tried to run the stand alone install of KB2770917 but it said not applicable for this computer.
I re-enabled the services and rebooted then ran win update the file installed and update fine, strange one that, but everything ok now

Did you disable all services or just the non Microsoft ones?

That did not work for me.

That thread now says "Nalpeiron Licensing Service" is the one to disable.

I disabled that and all other non MS services. Disabled anti-virus restarted, ran live update again and it's installed.

ffs this has just happend to me! cant do anything to get into windows either, grrrrrr bet when I get home my desktop is the same aswell

Boot into safe mode. That got me into desktop.

Yeah that was what I couldn't do lol, why they've had to make that sort difficult is a bit mad. Anyway all sorted, fortunately my Desktop didn't suffer the same problem
