Guys ,

Just built my new system and put win 7 on , let the automatic update go over night as i have a really slow interent , I have now encountered a problem , upon reboot it hangs on configuring update , i then power down and it hangs on update failure reverting back.... i then enter safe mode and done a restore , and once everything is back up the updates are still there waiting to be installed , so i now cannot turn my pc off as it gets stuck in the same loop above , i have been patient and waited hours for the update and revert to complete but to be honest it took bloody ages ( Hours ) Any ideas , can i remove the updates , although i dont know which ones there are?

Regards

Have you tested your RAM/overclock? Some of those updates look like they have stalled and others take a while, but not hours. It's rare to have one completely screw up, especially on a fresh install.

Did you use an old Win7 disc or one with SP1 included?

I'd suggest not using auto-update and manually installing them initially.

Even better, if you didn't use a disc with SP1 included, use one with SP1 included :p

do the updates 1 at a time to see which is breaking the machine?

This is how I fixed it when I had this problem.

Started with the biggest/most important and did them one by one.

The offending one just vanished at some point so I just assumed it was superceeded by a later one or was included with another one that had installed ok.

If it turns out your just left with 1 foobar update it should be easier to fix.
