Ive just done the free upgrade to Windows 10 and noticed that within a few minutes of logging in for the first time, Windows Update had downloaded the drivers for my rig. The GPU, LAN and Audio etc.

I restarted the PC and checked Device Manager to find everything was installed 100% with no 'exclamation marks' signifying a missing driver.

Are the days of going to the manufacturers websites to download the right drivers for your hardware gone?

The truth is, I have no idea if the driver that has been installed is infact the right driver for that piece of hardware, but so far everything is working fine.

If everything is working fine then just leave it.

The only driver I manually installed was the GPU drivers, as they're always constantly updated.

I had to get some drivers for some 'obscure' items like a microsoft mouse, a scanner, that sort of thing lol

HP adf scanner which HP isn't supporting in windows 10, it works fine after getting drivers from driverscape. Think I had to get my canon scanner too.
I had to get an older intellipoint software to get my mouse to work properly (scroll speeds etc) because the mouse and keyboard center screwed up the calculator loading on top of windows.
Still needed to get drivers for one of my Canon printers, wacom and 3DX Connexion devices.

IIRC pretty much everything else downloaded ok although I did do the gpu drivers separately too. Might have downloaded intel rst as well.
