Windows Update KB3001652 warning

This might be a tragic coincidence, but on a 64-bit desktop and and 32-bit laptop both with Windows 8.1 installed, Windows Update KB3001652 is taking a very long time to install. When I say a long time, I mean that Windows Update started about 30 minutes ago and has been stuck on this one update.

No activity or process is showing high CPU or disk usage in task manager. It seems to be hanging on this one update.

So you might want to be weary about installing this update for the time being. Reports on the internet are proving that I'm not the only one experiencing this issue.

Having the same problem, been stuck on install screen for about 20 mins.

Ok, this has worked on both computers. I turned them off while updating, restarted them and installed Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime. After checking for Windows Updates again and installing them, that seems have to worked.

Yeah, I rebooted mine, & installed minus the offending update. All fine now.

Seems something has left some random folders on my second drive I can't delete. Timestamp was during the update.

I too had this and even had some problems when taking ownership before I could finally delete them.

Change the owner to Administrators and also add full permission for Administrators.

This is the reason I never set updates to automatically install. Check for updates only. Safest way.

my laptop updated fine at 6pm Tuesday , 8.1 64bit
this update wasn't on my list
