Wasn't entirely convinced that this should be in the Network & Internet Connectivity forum as I am assuming the issue lies with Windows Update.
Over the past few days I have booted up only to discover that I am unable to visit any sites via browsers or send and receive email.
I am able to successfully ping sites and the modem insists it is functioning correctly and connected to the Internet.
To overcome this, a system restore puts things back to normal but after the problem appeared a few more times, I noticed that it seemed to occur immediately following an automatic Windows Update.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this? I suppose I could stop the updates but I assumed they were in the best interests of the computer.
Incidentally, I'm on XP Media Centre Edition 2002 Service Pack 2 and the restore point is labelled 'Software Distribution Service 3.0'.
