Windows Update, Very slow

Hey Guys

Just had the usual wednesday update notfification this morning, but I just can't seem to download the updates very quickly. I've tried through auto updates and direct from the Windows update website, both times the downloads crawl to a halt going from anywhere between 5k and 0k a sec.

I've also tried restarting but still get the same issue? I know my net is at full speed because I can download TV ep's off iTunes at full 230k speed, and webpages load as fast as they always do (BTW, i'm not trying to download tv ep's off iTunes AND get windows updates at the same time, the iTunes bit was just to test I had full net speed)

I'm on XP pro with SP3, virginmedia 2meg service and I'm not being capped for going over my usage limit.

after starting it at about 11am this morning, it's still only got to 68% of a 90meg download overall (13 updates in total)

Anyone else experiencing the same issue or have any suggestions on how to fix?

I've had that problem in the past. There's nothing much you can do other than try again later. It's probably because the server it's trying to grab it from is getting hammered from everybody else trying to download the updates. Although why it doesn't have this problem with every update I'm not sure.
