I've got a cosha copy of XP Home, and when I connect to the Microsoft updates page, and select either Express or Custom, it just sites there with the green progress bar 'checking for latest updates'. I've disabled Nod32, and the Sygate firewall running on the P.C, but what-ever I try it just sits there. I've left it for over an hour and it won't progressing past this stage.

I have another P.C on my network and it connects up and finds what's available within 30 seconds or so.

I'm behind a Linksys router, but if one of my P.C's works ok, and the other doesn't, I can't figure it as a router issue.

Has anyone got any ideas I can try to get past this stage please?

Cheers

Are both your PCs connected to the router directly? How are they connected? It sounds as if the PC that can get the updates might be the main PC on the network? If you can, swap the PCs round router wise so that the PC that can't get the updates plays the role of the PC that can. If you can do that then you should be able to see if it is the router or the PC causing the problem.

If you desperately need the updates can you connect the 2nd PC to the Internet directly?
