I have every windows 7 update since 2009 including SP1, hundreds of them like everyone else has. There seems to be no way when I look at my updates history screen of finding out the total size of them in MB/GB. What do you reckon I would have approximately lost in hard drive space? Got to be several GB, right? I'm installing a 128GB SSD at the weekend. So I'll have tons of updates to install. Will I lose a lot of drive space? Most times when a new update comes through, it seems to be around 10 to 40mb. I need the updates obviously, but just curious really.

A lot of crap gets left behind by updates, you can free some up from folders like Windows\SoftwareDistribution\download

For SP1 backups (assuming you don't have a streamlined install): http://www.ghacks.net/2011/02/23/remove-windows-7-sp1-backups-to-free-up-disk-space/

Nvidia drivers are also incredibly bad for hogging space, everytime you install it pumps a copy out into c:\NVIDIA and also C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\Installer2. Nowadays they seem to be around 150-200MB a pop so if you try a lot of betas like me you can end up losing a couple gig if you aren't careful. If you retain the original downloaded installer, that basically means 500MB per driverset to cleanup!
