Windows V CPUz Memory Report

Can anyone figure out this problem.

My PC whilst older dose the job for me but does show a funny glitch with the RAM.

Currently I have 2 GB Ram in machine (1 x 1GB 2 x 512 MB) yet Windows declares on 1.5 GB anbd CPUz shows 2 GB any idea why. THis happens no matter what order I have the sticks in. I am planning upgrade next week and will be getting new board etc but would like this machine to continue as a media server and want to sort the ram out.

Slot 2 & 3 are identical.

Sorry for long post and I'm a bit of noob when it comes to this side of things.

If it is the memory controler might be looking for RAM in slot 4, and ignoring slot 2 (dual-channel is normally slots 1+3, 2+4)???

Only 3 slots on machine, so i dont think its anything todo with dual channel

All stciks double sided, yet if i take one of the 512 sticks out windows still reports 1.5 GB

EDIT : I'm a noob - only the 1GB is doulbe sided
