I bought a dell d620 a while back but ive lost my install cds.

Should i be able to use any xp pro cd to reinstall as when i enter my product key it says its invalid. Even though it says it on the bottom of the laptop....?

Nope, the CD will be an XP Pro disc specifc to Dell. You'll have to contact them for a disc that'll work.
 
Should work anyway. You'll have problems with the activations, but just explain it on the phone to MS, and they'll be fine.

We do it all the time at work. We have a XP Pro site licence, but the only XP CDs we have are a RM one, with loads of RM rubbish on, and a Dell Laptop one.
So if we want a standalone XP machine, we use the Dell CD.
