Windows Virtual machine question

hi i want to install windows 7 using Windows VM is it a case of installing on desktop then rebooting installing OS, or do you have to burn as a image file then install OS?

I'm just doing this myself with VM 2007.

Simply create a new computer on it, start it up and then point it to the image you downloaded from MS.

You can just mount an image in Daemon tools or whatever. At least that's the case for Virtualbox.

You don't need to mount the image in VMWARE, it just reads from the ISO.

When I tried an earlier beta it didn't like the VMWARE SCSI discs, you may have to use IDE.

No need in Virtual PC, you can just point it to the ISO and it appears on the PC like you put the CD in the drive.

i have downloaded vmware do i now just mount the image of windows 7 and install it in vmware? i would like the option of having the choice of still being able to choice between vista and windows 7 on startup
