As always I recommend not using any codec pack. The only things you need to play any file in existence is Media Player Classic Home Cinema, ffdshow tryouts and Haali Media Splitter. All 32-bit versions.

Ffdshow will display thumbs on most file types.

That's pretty much exactly what CCCP does for you.

Right i fixed my problem by reinstalling the Vista Codec Pack.

Now MKV and AVI (XVID/DIVX) files play fine.

I didn't get around to installing that codec pack last night, d'oh. Will do it today.
