Howzit guys.

I have just upgraded to Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit.

I am already thinking of going back to 32Bit Vista. Mainly due to all the crap I keep hearing, regarding the 64bit operating system. I do have 4Gbs of RAM in the system as well and I have installed the service pack 1 for Vista.

What I would like to know/hear is other people's opinions on these forums who are using the 64bit version of Vista.

Are games slower on the system, compared to 32bit or same/faster?

I will leave it on for now...but I don't know...

Thanks all!

why would anything be slower? what kind of crap have you been reading?

anyway, as you already have it installed, why not make up your own mind.....

64bit Vista should be faster than 32bit in theory. I am using it now and it is a lot better than my previous XP 32bit install. Whether thats because its a fresh install or because of 64bit i dont know.

Vista 64bit is tons better than XP64 which is were all the bad press is. Every program i use works fine in Vista and performance is great.

marc2003: I know that. It wass also because I have had a few minor issues with this 64-bit. But I think they were completely unrelated issues to the OS it self.

I will stick with it for now and see.

The kak I was told/reading is that its slower with games/will have problems with older games. You know, the normal media-rubbish-driven-type!

i'm obviously familiar with the usual xp vs vista rubbish but i haven't really seen anybody put down 64 bit vista in favour of 32bit....

16bit games won't run in x64. but hopefully that shouldn't be an issue for you? :p

Hahaha, yes you're right, that won't be a problem for me! :p

Well maybe it was just me. I'm happy with it so far.

Thanks, Marc and others!

imo the only thing wrong with x64 is the device driver signing and thats the only thing thats worse than x32 version
