Windows Vista and X-FI

I have Windows Vista Home Premium and an X-Fi soundcard. I installed the beta X-Fi drivers from the Creative website. I always set the CMSS-3D to Stereo Surround, and this works flawlessly on XP. However, whilst in Vista it works perfectly for things like iTunes, MCE and Media Player, as soon as I crank open a game, it switches back to stereo sound. Does anyone have a solution, or do you reckon it's just a fault in the beta drivers?

Basically there's no directsound in vista, so there's no EAX and no positional audio, at all. Creative are getting round this by writing a wrapper but it's not done yet. Microsoft messed up XP with the 'optimal refresh rate set at 60 Hz' thing (which mattered when everyone had a CRT) and now they're messing up Vista with this.

It's not, but I've got it installed in preparation for the key I'll be getting when it is released on the 19th.

I see... I hope someone somewhere is able to fix this... being forced to use stereo sound seems to somewhat defeat the point of having surround speakers.

If you ordered it from here forget the 19th, All versions are the 30th now

There are newish drivers available but as you can see if you vist creatives own forums there are a lot of angry people at the quality of drivers.

Its a waiting game to get all the bug ironed out, creative seem to be fixing 1 thing and breaking another at the mo

So I see about the 19th date slipping. Well it doesn't matter, you get 30 days to enter a key.
