hi my vista has just deactivated itself, i have not changed anything i haven't even opened my case, the only thing thats changed is my graphics drivers have been updated but i have done this loads of times and its never deactivated itself so how come it has now

mine had done this too. on the vista website it says to contact microsoft and they will reactivate it. it is due to hardware change, and drivers count as changing hadware (silly microsoft).

edit; i meant major hardware change. in microsofts eyes, that means changing a graphics card, and adding a dvd drive at the same time.

Windows update updates your hardware everytime a new driver is released for that hardware. The driver makes absolutely no difference where the problem lies is in your Hardware. The Striker extreme is prone to Harware checksum errors, especially if your system is unstable or overclocked. I have a P5N32-E SLI 680i chipset board. I had the same problem when I attempted to overclock the board. The system became unstable and I had to re-Activate Vista. I use shuttles to change O/S's and whenever I swap one O/S for another I don't have to reactivate windows.
