Hi all. I'm wondering if any of you can help with a problem I'm having. Basically I did a fresh format of my desktop and installed vista. Everything was going fine but one of the updates is causing my computer to be stuck in an endless updating loop! It turns on as normal goes to "installing stage 3" goes all the way to 100% then restarts and goes back to "Installing Stage 3 again and again.

I had this.

I cant remember how I fixed it though.

I think I managed to get it into safe mode, then did a system restore, then googled the problem and unslected then hid the offending update.

Its one of the security updates that does it.

If I remember correctly it mainly effects cracked copies of windows, mine wasnt by the way.

There are very little difference between most cracks copys of windows, and legal copy. Infact most copys of windows installed without a licence would most likely be a networked activated edition which isnt a crack, its more tricking it into think its talking to Microsoft.

Anyway this is besides the point, I just feel its quite silly to suggest/imply something along them lines.

I've had similar issues with windows updates, but most often it has been caused by a combination of things mainly Disk space and Bad ram.

At the time i attempted to cover all bases by formatting and reinstalling, which was when I discovered the ram was the root of all the problems!

Hi, thanks for the info guys :) Well it is a genuine product and it's the same computer I've used for the last few years, no upgrades. Previously when I've formatted the drive Ive had no issues with updates.
