On startup my loading bar is on screen for a long time and im wondering if its the norm? It goes past over 20 times before the screen turns black for a few more seconds then the windows logo appears. Is it supposed to be faster?

Vista ultimate btw, on a Q6600 with 4GB of RAM

Something must be wrong, I have Vista Ultimate 64Bit installed on a E6300 Dual Core with 4GB ram and my PC spends a couple of seconds on the loading screen.

Try this it might work for you :)

OMG that tweak is amazing!

Before, the green bar used to swipe past 5 times, now it only goes 3.5 times, Thanks much :)

Have not tried this tweak my self, will do when I get around to rebooting. I never turn my PC off anyway so loading times don't really matter to me as long as the OS it's self is not slow.

Says at the top of the page...
"EDIT: This seems to be a hoax as confirmed by Gizmodo. My apologies."

I cured my problem (in the op) my windows install was on a harddrive I managed to break the sata connector off, and had it glued on to work. Seems it finally gave up.

Instead of having the loading bar, I select "OS boot information" in MSCONFIG

This shows you the boot info whilst booting, instead of the loading bar, and shows how many system CPUs are in use, and how much ram also.

Even leaving the number of CPUs to manual, my system still boots using two cpus, using my E6600.

Vin.
