Windows Vista mouse lag?

Hey all I have Windows Vista Home Premium service pack 2 and have lately had problems with the mouse lagging/jumping around even on the desktop with no windows open. Wondering if anyone has had this issue and fixed it or knows what to do?

if its usb try it in a different usb slot

it's not the mouse it's windows lagging. Seems to be after it's been on for a while, anyone have a solution/similar problem?
