Windows Vista Performance Updates -

Microsoft has issued a couple of updates = for Windows Vista that address performance and compatibility problems with the new operating system. The performance update addresses poor memory management performance, AVI corruption, and slow estimates when copying large files, among other issues. With the compatibility update, Microsoft has apparently fixed "visual appearance issues" in games, poor playback quality with HD DVD and Blu-ray movies, and a tendency for GeForce 8-series graphics drivers to stop responding.

As far as I know they were released to beta testers, they should be on windows Update this coming Tuesday all being well.

nope, they are final release. just not on windows update yet.

yup

makes the desktop feel more like xp again (less crappy speed problems)

these updates have done nothing for me. but then my vista was running great beforehand...

yup

although most people's issues can be put down to drivers, but these patches made vista a lot better for me

does it make playing games any quicker? if you get me. the reason i moved back to xp was the fps issues I was having.

I got about 20 fps more on guildwars,

but when it was on 2 and now on 20, its still dire.

Unrar'ing and copying stuff is much faster with these.
