Hi all,

Windows vista is giving me grief (surprise, surprise!)

When i leave my computer it goes to sleep mode. I like this way because waking it back up again takes a few seconds rather than waiting for the machine to boot.

I think its the hard drive which doesnt 'wake' back up - CPU / Memory is fine, but the computer is lagging on all tasks which require hard drive write / read.

Does any one have any suggestions? Or has anyone come across this them selves?

So tempted to go back to XP, if only it looked as good.

Thanks in advance.

I seem to have developed this same issue and it is bugging me. I have been using Vista x64 for over a month but only recently started using sleep mode. After waking up from sleep it becomes quite slow, expecially in IE7 which I guess is doing disk IO everytime I load a page. Team Fortress 2 will take ages to load and then become unresponsive, DOSBox takes ages to load anything and when it runs it's slow, photoshop hangs on loading fonts, iTunes becomes very slow, the list goes on and it's really bugging me and I can't find the cause. All I know is that restarting always fixes it.

Yeah thats whats happening here.

I uninstalled SP1, which fixed it, I then re-downloaded SP1 and it was still fine, but progressivly it has started happening again. Its a wierd bug and very annoying.
