Windows Vista SP2 out today.

Been using the RTM release for about 20 days or so and I haven't really noticed any difference from SP1. After SP1 I don't think there was anything major to be fixed in vista imo.

Thanks for the up. This might just push me fully over to vista if its an improvement on SP1. As that was pretty good in itself.

Are there any issues with x64 Vista with gaming now?

I've not had any issues with x64 gaming at all. Most of them were fixed in SP1. Some games require running in admin mode, but that's not a problem at all.

Standalone won't install here, just get an error after pressing install and directs me to a MS website saying check auto updates, through which it doesn't seem to have arrived yet. Patience.

Yeah softpedia should be fine.

Been waiting for this to be released as my Vista could do with a rebuild and want to slipstream to this if poss. Might finally get around to buying an SSD as well to put in on. :)

did you use vlite?

if "vLite" was used to customize your Windows Vista installation, you may have removed required system components which prevent Service Pack 2 from installing. Microsoft has a workaround for this issue.

Good spot there, I did read it but never thought about it. I bought this Vista as a download from Microsoft and made the DVD by vlite or similar, though I don't recall removing any components. I have just reinstalled windows update in its entirety, so i'm about to try again, otherwise I'll reinstall from an SP1 disk.

EDIT: No luck there, just going to reinstall anyway, was planning to do it soon since I just got a HD back from RMA that's faster than my current system drive. Bit of a pain if you don't plan on reinstalling though.

I almost got excited, but them I realised that with my workstation dead, this is a bit pointless for me :(

That did creep up though. I thought it was still a few weeks away.
